There are several design distinctions between a veranda and a terrace. If you\u2019ve always wondered how they differ, here\u2019s a clear explanation:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A <strong>veranda<\/strong> is usually attached to the front part of a building and typically shares one or two walls with it;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <strong>veranda<\/strong> is not part of the main structure but is built on a shared foundation;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Its walls are finished with the same material as the building fa\u00e7ade (although glazed options are also common);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The roof can either be an extension of the house or a separate structure;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The main purpose of the veranda is as an auxiliary space \u2014 unlike the terrace, it is usually not intended for relaxation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-legal-permits-and-restrictions-for-building-a-terrace-or-veranda\">Legal Permits and Restrictions for Building a Terrace or Veranda<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now that you understand how the two structures differ, it\u2019s important to know the legal framework governing their construction.<br>In <strong>Bulgaria<\/strong>, these regulations are defined in the following documents:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Spatial Development Act (SDA)<\/strong> \u2013 Establishes the general rules for urban planning and construction, including the requirements for terraces and verandas.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Ordinance No. 7 of 2003 on the Design, Execution, and Maintenance of Buildings<\/strong> \u2013 Defines technical standards for construction, including those for terraces and verandas.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Local Urban Development Plans (PUP)<\/strong> \u2013 Specify the exact rules and restrictions for construction within each municipality.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before starting your project, contact your <strong>local municipality<\/strong> to obtain detailed information about the required permits.
